E4 IDENT EVALUATION

materials used;
Pencil
Post it notes- for the logo.
Mac book- to capture and Istop motion for the effect.

For this project i had to create an animation to make a E4 channel Ident. i started of by gathering my idea's on a piece of paper them made it into a mind map on Word. i chose one out of my three idea's .

I like the overall design of my project. For my e4 ident i chose to use istopmotion and post it notes.
I used a pencil to go along as i had istop motion going. I tried to use colours as close as possible as e4's original colour, purple but as i didn't have the appropriate material i used an alternative colour pink.

My E4 logo shows a very good view of an e4 sign that i have made out.
It starts of with me drawing a e4 logo on to a piece of paper with my finger. The paper starts to float and goes on to the wall bouncing up some steps. The post its then start to multiply scattering accross the tv into a big E4 sign.

In my opinion my ident could have been improved for example, spending a little more time on it for a longer lasting end product and adding some background music to go with the sound effects.

Many people thought my ident was short as i agreed it could have been longer.
Doing this task gave me a chance to be creative and for future tasks like this i will spend more time on my finishing product as i underestimated how long it would take.

advantages: clear E4 ident sign
disadvantages: was rushed and could have been longer. time consuming

i asked 10 people of what they thought about my idea
3 told me it seemed pretty rushed but it was a good idea.
5 told me that it was brilliant and that nothing should be changed
2 told me i could have made it longer an used other props.

Drawn Animation

Traditional animation process. Animators will begin by drawing sequences of animation on sheets of transparent paper perforated to fit the peg bars in their desks, often using coloured pencils, one picture or "frame" at a time. A peg bar is an animation tool that is used in traditional (cel) animation to keep the drawings in place. The pins in the peg bar match the holes in the paper. It is attached to the animation desk or light table depending on which is being used. A key animator or lead animator will draw the key drawings in a scene, using the character layouts as a guide. The key animator draws enough of the frames to get across the major points of the action; in a sequence of a character jumping across a gap, the key animator may draw a frame of the character as he is about to leap, two or more frames as the character is flying through the air, and the frame for the character landing on the other side of the gap.

Koyaanisqatsi

The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music. Reggio explains the lack of dialogue by stating "it's not for lack of love of the language that these films have no words.

Pixilation Animation

Pixilation is a stop motion technique.
Live actors are used to take shots frame-by-frame in an animated film.
They repeatedly pose while one or more frame is taken and changing pose slightly before the next frame or frames. The actor becomes a kind of living stop motion puppet.
This technique is often used as a way to blend live actors with animated ones in a film, such as in The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb by the Bolex Brothers, which used the technique to compelling and eerie effect.
Examples of this technique are El hotel eléctrico from 1908 and Ã‰mile Cohl's 1911 film Jobard ne peut pas voir les femmes travailler.
The term is widely credited to Grant Munro. He made an experimental film named "Pixillation", available in his DVD collection "Cut Up - The Films Of Grant Munro".
bad thing about pixilation is that to make a long advert it will take a long time. how ever it is very similar to cut out animation but with real people.
here is an example;

Object Animation

Object Animation is a form of stop motion animation.
Involves the animated movements of any non-drawn objects such as toys, blocks, dolls, etc. which are not fully malleable, such as clay or wax, and not designed to look like a recognizable human or animal character.
Object animation is considered a different form of animation distinct from model animation and puppet animation, as these two forms of stop-motion animation usually use recognizable characters as their subjects, rather than just objects like static toy soldiers, or construction toys such asTinker Toys, LEGO brand bricks (Brickfilm), Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets, Playmobil and so on

Cut out animation

Cut out animation is a technique for producing animations using flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric or even photographs. The world's earliest known animated feature films were cutout animations (made in Argentina by Quirino Cristiani); as is the world's earliest surviving animated feature.
Cut-out animation is one of the oldest forms of animation and in pre computer days, probably the easiest to create. As its name implies, cut-out animation involves moving cut-out shapes in small steps and taking a picture at each stage, this is a lot less work than having to draw every single frame of the animation.

weakness of cut out animations is the image cant get bigger or smaller

Zoetorpe

zoetrope is a device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures.
It consists of a cylinder with slits cut vertically in the sides. Beneath the slits on the inner surface of the cylinder is a band which has either individual frames from a video/film or images from a set of sequenced drawings or photographs.
it was invent by a man named William Horner in 1834.

Shutter Speeds

Motion Blurred
This is a blured motion shot. I used a shutter speed priority which i set the shutter speed to1/125 or less. to get this look you must hold to camera still and take the shot as a moving object is passing by.

Panning shot
This is a panning shot where you are able to see that the background is blurred but you can still see the object clearly. To get this effect you have to follow the object with the camera and use a slow shutter speed :(shutter speed: 1/80)

light photography
for this the lights have to be turned off. The camera will be on a tripod and the exposure will be set to 15seconds for you to be able to capture the light. then you will press the button and move around with some source of light ie. tourch.
light photography is a lens that is used to focus on the light reflected from the objects around the room in to a real image as above.

this is freeze motion photography
first of all i slowed down the shutter speed and allow less light in to get a better photo. to get a freeze motion photo i also had to use a panning shot with shutter speed priority

shutter zoom
shutter zoom is when you focus on one object but move the lens to get a blurred back ground effect.

Photo Idea- mood bored, mind map

Aim; to create a series of photo's i have chosen the name 'vintage fashion'. i will be the model do the make up and hair and produce a series of pictures.
The reasons i have chosen to have a vintage theme  is because like the idea of a classical look.
